How to make halva at home? Jets is very quick and easy. It is traditionally prepared from roasted sesame seeds, sunflower seeds or other nuts and the addition of honey. As you can see, if we omit the shop halva product with sugar and harmful chemicals, it is a very healthy dish. After all, sesame is a wealth of vitamins and minerals, as well as healthy fats – unsaturated omega 3 fatty acids, valuable protein and antioxidants.

Recipe for: Homemade halva

  • 1 cup golden sesame / shelled sunflower seeds
  • 2-3 tablespoons of real honey
  • optional extras: a bit of vanilla flavor, cocoa, chopped nuts, pistachios

Time needed: 15 minutes.

How to make homemade halva?

  1. First, sesame.

We measure out the sesame and put it on a clean and dry frying pan, preferably a Teflon one. We have to toast it for a few minutes, stirring constantly so that it does not burn (then the halva will be bitter). When it starts to smell and blush nicely, turn off the gas and remove the pan.

  2. Mixing.

Cool the sesame, pour it into a blender or grinder and gradually grind it into a powder. We pour it into a bowl and add honey every now and then. Stir until the ingredients are combined, gradually adding so much honey that the mass has the right consistency. It should be compact and resemble plasticine.

  3. Accessories.

When the mass is perfect, add the additives and gently mix again. Fill the pâté form halfway with the mass and press it with a board or knead it into a large roll. We decorate the top with accessories.

  4. Ready.

We wrap the mass in foil and put it in the fridge for a few hours, or in the freezer for half an hour. It should be compact, dense and easy to cut. We keep in the refrigerator.
