Recipe for homemade sourdough rye bread
Here is a recipe for homemade sourdough rye bread:
Ingredients:
- 300 g rye sourdough starter
- 400 g rye flour
- 200 g wholemeal wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon of honey or agave syrup
- 300 ml of warm water
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix the rye sourdough starter with warm water.
- Add rye and wholemeal wheat flours and salt. You can also add honey or agave syrup for more flavor.
- Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Remember that the dough will be thick and sticky.
- Cover the dish with a cloth and let it rise for about 8-12 hours in a warm place. The dough should double in volume.
- After the dough has risen, turn it out gently on a lightly floured surface and knead it gently for a few minutes.
- Form the bread and place it in a greased baking pan or bread pan. You can use extra flour for shaping.
- Let the bread rise again for about 1-2 hours.
- Before baking, preheat the oven to 220°C.
- Gently stretch the top of the bread with a knife and place it in the oven.
- Bake the bread for about 40-50 minutes, until it is beautifully browned and makes a deafening sound when tapped on the bottom.
- After baking, remove the rye bread from the oven and let it cool on the griddle.
