Hey guys! Today I am giving you a new DIY recipe – homemade coconut oil toothpaste, which is great for daily oral hygiene.
I always keep it on hand and use it alternately with other, store toothpaste. It is very easy and quick to make, I usually have the ingredients at home. After all, coconut oil is my absolute home must-have, so it is also economical.
Thanks to this, at any time when my toothpaste runs out or I have any irritations, I can make my own cosmetic, which is natural and ecological, vegan, thanks to its slipperiness, it does not wear off the enamel, it simply whitens the teeth, destroys bacteria and soothes.
I finally decided to write down all the recipes for home cosmetics that I keep in my bathroom every day and I use them most often. I have been making them for so long, practically every month, mixing the ingredients “by eye” because I know them by heart. More recipes coming soon, but in the meantime feel free to make my homemade coconut oil paste.
homemade toothpaste without fluoride- recipe
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 2 level teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of xylitol powder
- 5 drops of essential oils
Execution:
Coconut oil must be removed from the refrigerator beforehand to soften it a bit, but do not dissolve it in a water bath, because the dissolved coconut oil will not have the proper consistency to mix the paste. You can put it on the radiator for a while, but make sure that it only softens slightly.
Put the right amount of oil into a clean, scalded container, add soda, xylitol and mix gently, then add the oils. The paste should have the consistency of a thick, white paste, if it is too thin, add more dry ingredients. We can also add a little white clay to it. After mixing, put the mixture on until it solidifies in the glaciers.
Homemade coconut toothpaste without fluoride – how to use?
The finished paste should be in the form of a solidified butter, but easy to scoop on a brush.
We keep homemade coconut oil toothpaste in a bathroom in a closed container.
The best essential oils for the paste will be those with antibacterial properties: tea tree, clove, mint, lemon, eucalyptus, cinnamon or chamomile. In addition to giving the paste taste and smell, they destroy bacteria and fungi, and also accelerate wound healing and relieve inflammation.
Xylitol can also be replaced with Stevia.
It is thanks to him that the homemade toothpaste has a sweetish aftertaste, so it is also suitable for children who still use toothpaste without fluoride. But then I would cut down on essential oils and add more xylitol.
If you do not have the time or the desire to make your own homemade DIY paste, I recommend you the shop paste I tested recently:
Biomed SuperWhite, fluoride-free toothpaste.
Will you try to make such a paste? Or maybe you know a better recipe?
