Hey guys. Today I have another post for you from the health cycle – we will talk about what coconut oil is and what its positive properties are for our health, beauty and better immunity.
The whole world has long been marveling at the beneficial properties of coconut oil. We use it both in the kitchen and in cosmetics, and as a kind of dietary supplement with miraculous properties, which makes it a universal cosmetic and a remedy for all diseases. Coconut oil is composed of medium chain fatty acids, so it has no negative effect on our cholesterol levels. On the contrary, they lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. It also contains lautic acid, in the human body it transforms into monolaurin, which is an antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal substance known to medicine. This is what makes coke oil, especially unrefined and consumed raw, so valuable for our health and better immunity. So it is not a regular cooking oil. If you are interested in how it is applied, I invite you to the rest of the post.
What is coconut oil?
Coconut oil , also known as coconut butter, is made from the flesh of a ripe coconut, called copra. The healthiest healthy oil is obtained by cold pressing. It consists mainly of medium chain fatty acids, so it has no negative impact on our cholesterol levels. On the contrary, they lower the risk of heart disease and stroke. The oil consists of saturated fatty acids (approx. 80-90%): lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, caprylic acid, capric acid, stearic acid, caproic acid and unsaturated acids (from 4 to 10%): oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid.
It also includes lautic acid, which in the human body transforms into monolaurin, which is an antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal substance known to medicine, which also supports the immune system and thus – our immunity.
Coconut oil – why is it so healthy?
Coconut oil has long been known as a slimming aid and regulating our metabolism. The oil also contains antioxidants that will protect the body against the harmful effects of free radicals, delay the aging process and keep the skin in good condition.
Coconut oil helps to remove toxins from the body as well as to prevent and treat diabetes.
It has a high content of vitamin E, so it protects the skin, heals mycosis, psoriasis and acne, and accelerates the healing of wounds and burns.
It is bactericidal, prevents the formation of caries and gingivitis, it is successfully used in oral hygiene, e.g. toothpaste.
It also supports the treatment of troublesome migraines, heartburn, inflammation of muscles and joints. It also reduces the occurrence of epileptic seizures and alleviates menstrual pain.
Coconut oil is also widely used in cosmetics , it is used in the care of the skin of the whole body, face and hair. We can successfully prepare DIY home cosmetics from it.

Refined or unrefined, which oil to choose?
It is worth buying unrefined and freshly cold pressed oil. This type has the most nutrients so valuable to our body. Refined oil is produced industrially at very high temperatures and is therefore much less nutritious and poor in vitamins. The most valuable type is unrefined and organic, unfortunately such oils are also the most expensive.
Unrefined oil and refined oil are very easy to distinguish, not only by the price. Fresh, unrefined oil will smell and taste delicately of coconut and has a milky white color. Refined is odorless, colorless and tasteless.
How to use coconut oil?
People on ketogenic diets and fitness enthusiasts have been using a teaspoon of coconut oil for tea and coffee for a long time. It can also enrich cocktails, not only sweet ones. Of course, it works great as a substitute for butter and margarine, as well as the typical, nutrient-poor frying oil. It does not have a too sweet aftertaste, so it will work as an addition to most dishes, even in traditional Polish cuisine.
Interestingly, this oil does not cause the accumulation of excess fat, on the contrary – it speeds up metabolism, and therefore supports slimming. We should add at least a teaspoon a day of the miracle drug to our daily diet.
Summary
As you can see, this oil is a wonderful way to enrich our diet, first aid kit and cosmetic bag. It is always worth having a jar of this universal product at home that works well in all circumstances. Soon I will also write a guide on how to use coconut oil in natural body and hair care.
