Hello guys! I come to you today with another short review of hair care cosmetics, this time it is Babushka Agafia mask, a yeast mask for fast hair growth. It is an iconic hair care product known from hair maniac blogs, which used to break popularity records.
No wonder as it was very cheap, good and accessible. This universal mask with a poor composition and very thin consistency was perfect for washing hair and emulsifying, DIY peels and of course rubbing into the scalp to stimulate the growth and strengthen the hair roots. Pervoe Reshenie, Agafia Yeast Hair Mask for Growth Stimulation
Yeast hair mask is a great way to accelerate hair growth. Brewer’s yeast is a natural source of protein, vitamins and microelements that penetrate the hair structure, strengthening it and accelerating growth. Wheat germ oil has regenerative and anti-hair loss properties. Birch juice is a well-known folk remedy for strengthening the hair follicles. Thanks to the content of cold-pressed oils, the mask facilitates detangling. Hair becomes silky and shiny.
The mask contains extracts from:
Brewer’s yeast (Yeast Extract) – improves the structure of the hair, strengthens, accelerates growth.
Birch sap (Betula Alba Juice) – strengthens the hair follicles, gives shine to the hair, prevents hair loss.
Great Oman (Inula Helenium Extract) – has antiseptic and antibacterial properties
Bearberry (Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Extract) – an excellent natural antiseptic
Milk thistle (Silybum Marianum Extract) – soothes inflammation and inhibits skin changes.
And cold-pressed oils:
Wheat germ oil (Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil) – regenerates the inside of the hair, restores the natural cover and smoothes its surface. It protects against excessive water loss and UV radiation.
White currant seed oil (Ribes Aureum Seed Oil) – has anti-inflammatory properties, intensively nourishes the hair.
Cedar nut oil (Pinus Siberica Cone Oil) – reduces seborrhea, fights dandruff, stimulates subcutaneous circulation and prevents hair loss
Rosehip oil (Rosa canina Fruit Oil) – nourishes, moisturizes and makes hair elastic
How to use: Apply the mask to clean, damp hair. We spread it evenly along the entire length up to the base of the hair. Wash off with water after 1-2 minutes.

Babuszka Agafia , my opinion:
Babushka Agafia yeast is a very popular hair mask known from blogs of hair maniacs, which used to break records of popularity. No wonder as they were very cheap, good and accessible. Such a universal mask with a poor composition and thin consistency was perfect for washing hair with conditioner and emulsifying, for OMO, DIY peels and, of course, for rubbing into the scalp to stimulate the growth and strengthen the hair roots. I was the one who used it most often to nourish my scalp.
The mask had several types – egg, burdock, but the most famous type was the yeast mask, as it was supposed to have a beneficial effect on quick growth. At one time, it was a hit when washing hair with conditioner. However, it quickly turned out that these Russian cosmetics are not so clean at all. Even if the manufacturer does not mention it, the masks may still contain Methylisothiazolinone and Methylchloroisothiazolinone, also known as ” itchy Msy” or “Msy” , which are allergenic preservatives. They cause itchy scalp and / or hair loss in some people. A lot of hair maniacs have moved away from trusting Russian ingredients and using these cosmetics, or they are applied only from the ear downwards, avoiding the sensitive scalp, so they cannot hurt us.
I also bought my Babuszka Agafia mask on the wave of their popularity, a long time ago. Unfortunately, I didn’t know much about hair care at the time, so of course I used it for a long time, only to rub into the scalp to stimulate growth and strengthen the hair roots. I used one package for a year, and then I bought another one to wash and emulsify the oil.
The mask was creamy and very thin until it was dripping from the fingers. After use, the hair was always smooth, soft and easy to comb. The smell, however, hit me very quickly, it became unbearable. I did not feel the promised cookies, rather yeast with milk, but sweet.
I think the mask was speeding up my growth, or maybe I was just telling myself that. My hair was still falling out, but in small amounts, and I didn’t notice any other symptoms. So it’s hard to say if the mask hurt me. However, I will not buy anything like that anymore – I prefer to protect my hair against the preservatives mentioned above.
Summarizing :
Babushka Agafia is still one of the cheapest cosmetics with a nice composition that we can buy on the hair market. The price for such a capacity is excellent, I didn’t feel sorry for it, even for washing my hair with a conditioner every day. If you are not allergic to you or you just want to use it on the length of your hair, you can try it, but with caution.
