RADICO, Color Me Organic, Henna Champagne Blonde

Hey guys! Today I come to you with a review after dyeing Radico Khadi henna in the shade of Champagne Blond.

I bought this product some time ago in a small eco-shop in Prague: it was a shop and a beauty salon that also specialized in natural hairdressing, henna dyeing and curly hair cutting. Henna was on sale with many shades of this manufacturer, it cost a few zlotys, unfortunately no one gave me the reason for such a reduction, even during the conversation. Out of suspicion, I checked the expiry date and of course – it was already a bit out of date. This one thing didn’t bother me, because I know that henna won’t spoil that easily, it can only be stale and not dye that well. However, it was closed there and kept in good conditions, so I decided to buy it. The color seemed strange to me, because the packaging shows a shade of deep red, and the composition of hibiscus, rubia and a lot of henna, so where does this champagne blonde come from? I did not care about it, because the mixture of so many herbs suited me very well, I poured it into a metal can, I used it to make my hair lotions and hair sprays and it worked perfectly. It greatly accelerated hair growth!

However, yesterday I found it in the wardrobe and forgetting everything, this time I decided to dye the roots with it and even out the hair color a little from the bottom. Of course, my suggestion was the color from the packaging … If you want to know what happened with henna dyeing, please take a look at my test and review.

Henna Champagne Blonde Blend by Radico Color Me Organic is 100% natural, finely ground dried plants. It allows you to get bright reds.

Radico blends are the first henna in our store that boasts  ecological certificates!  They are already known, among others on the Japanese, American, many European and Middle Eastern markets. Time for Poland! Radico uses only herbs from controlled crops to create its vegetable paints. Thanks to this, Radico paints are a real  ecological henna!  The company supervises the sorting and milling processes and three times sieves the final product to obtain its highest quality. The uniqueness of herbal paints is confirmed by certificates:

Why is it worth using natural coloring?

  1. Henna does not stick to the hair, but builds into it, thanks to which you gain permanent color and thickening of your hair.
  2. Henna strengthens and nourishes the hair, does not damage it like chemical paints.
  3. Henna allows you to obtain deep, intense reds and reds that will not fade.
  4. Henna does not contain irritating substances, it is very rare to be allergic to herbal mixtures containing it.
  5. Henna is a healthy, ecological agent – thanks to it you will change the condition of your hair forever!
  6. Henna is not tested on animals and does not contribute to their suffering in any way.
  7. Henning gives the hair a natural, beautiful shine that cannot be obtained with chemical paints.

Henna for hair dye – how to use?

  1. Pour the appropriate amount of powder into a glass or metal container.
  2. Don’t acidify! The mixture contains hibiscus, which will acidify it.
  3. Thoroughly mix the mixture with water or linseed glutton to the consistency of thick cream and leave it for at least a few hours in a warm place.
  4. Spread the paste on slightly damp hair.
  5. Cover your hair with a plastic cap or other form of foil so that the paste does not dry out on your hair.
  6. Keep the paste on your hair for at least 2.5-3 hours. If your hair is resistant to color, leave the mixture on your hair longer.
  7. Rinse the herbal paste thoroughly with clean water from your hair and do not wash it with shampoo.
  8. The next washing of the hair with a shampoo is recommended 48 hours after coloring at the earliest. During this time, the resulting color will take on a deep, intense shade.

RADICO, Color Me Organic – my opinion

Package:

We buy the paint packed in a box with an aesthetic, natural print. Inside there are:

  • henna packed in a thick and strong foil
  • instructions for use in several languages and information leaflets
  • disposable cap
  • typical, big gloves

The henna itself is very light, finely ground. It has a typical Casia scent, herbal and grassy, so I suspect that it has the most. I was surprised by the color before and after acidification, very light. Good texture, creamy, but a lot of tiny lumps, one of these herbs is clearly clumping. No problems with application.

Action: RADICO henna dyeing

I bought this product some time ago in a small eco-shop in Prague: henna was on sale, it cost a few zlotys, unfortunately it was already a bit out of date. However, it was closed there and kept in good conditions, so I decided to buy it. The color seemed strange to me, because the packaging shows a shade of deep red, and it contains hibiscus, rubia and a lot of henna, so where does this champagne blonde come from? I did not care about it, because the mixture of so many herbs suited me very well, I poured it into a metal can, I used it to make my own lotions and hair sprays and it worked perfectly. It greatly accelerated hair growth!

However, yesterday I found it in the wardrobe and forgetting everything, this time I decided to dye the roots with it and even out the hair color a little from the bottom. Of course, I was suggesting the color from the packaging … Without reading the ingredients. As a result, I acidified it properly and unnecessarily, since it was to acidify the already added hibiscus. I also kept it under the foil all night before I started dyeing. The producer recommended only a few hours … I did not add flaxseed, because I did not have time, but I did add some Tulsi and fenugreek.

As you can see, there are already two big blames in this, so I can only blame myself for the failed results, not the producer.

The color of the mixture seemed strangely light to me, and there were a lot of lumps in the mass that were difficult to break. After mixing for a long time, I gave up and went to apply henna to well-cleaned hair after a chelating mask. At this point, the mixture was like yogurt, well ground and velvety, it was good to apply despite the lumps. It did not dry in the bowl, which is often the case. It didn’t smell almost at all … I applied it to the regrowth and bottom of my hair, wrapped it in foil as usual. Unfortunately, I noticed that after washing off the paint from my forehead, no stains were left and it did not discolor my nails. Probably henna, unfortunately, is already a bit stale, although it released a nice orange dye when making rubs. I also dyed my eyebrows and only a faint glow of yellow remained.

Washing it up was a pain, the mud was dried up to pancakes and there were lots of pieces of herbs that I couldn’t wash off my hair. I haven’t had such a problem with rinsing yet. After draining, I checked in the mirror – unfortunately, I dyed any regrowths or gray spots on the temples, but there is a nice, bright, reddish yellow glow on the entire hair. On the other hand, the hair behaves as it always does after henna, i.e. it is dull to the touch, but visibly thickened, nourished, and smells very slightly of hay. They have an amazing glow.

Henna effects on my hair

Two days later the hair (except the roots) turned into a nice shade of light reddish brown which I quite like. Let’s say it’s similar to the package one if someone dyed very light blonde hair.

I am not sure what happened to the end: did I really have a bad dye or the color mixture of herbs, which, as you know, can be difficult to use, mainly contains cassia and hence this poor dyeing effect, especially on gray hair? Nevertheless, I can feel the nourishment and softness of my hair, so at least I had a cheap herbal mask. It will also help me build henna up to bronze, so it’s positive.

Summary:

I’m not entirely sure what to make of this henna. Nevertheless, its overall quality, grinding and consistency, I evaluate as a plus, I’m only worried about the problem with shades and washing out of the herbs. However, I would like to test pure henna or cassia from this company and compare the effects, with a more reliable test, I will probably change my mind, because the company has good opinions and certificates. Radico has entered the Polish market and these new, interesting shades of henna are definitely worth trying. A convenient, ready-to-use mixture, for those who like to test new products or do not want to buy ingredients individually and play with the proportions and preparation of separate herbs.
