DIY charcoal toothpaste – natural whitening

Hey guys! Today I am giving you a new DIY recipe – homemade activated carbon toothpaste, which is a cosmetic that naturally and gently whitens your teeth.

This time it is not a toothpaste intended for daily oral hygiene, but rather for temporary wiping off any discoloration and accumulation from the surface of the teeth. I always keep it at hand and it works great for me. It is very easy and quick to make, especially since I use oils and charcoal in my kitchen, home medicine cabinet and many DIY cosmetics recipes, so I always have them at home.

However, it is not a typical paste that we know from store shelves. The consistency of tooth oil is a bit like, which may surprise you a bit. However, I can assure you that it works well in brushing your teeth. Activated charcoal has a mild effect, but the effects of using it are effective and quick, and you can see improvement after the first use of the paste. Used once in a while, it is enough for me to keep my teeth white in a natural and ecological way. Due to its slipperiness, the paste does not rub off the enamel, it simply counter-whitens teeth, destroys bacteria and soothes irritations. More DIY recipes will be coming here soon, in the meantime feel free to make my homemade charcoal paste.

Why is charcoal toothpaste effective in whitening teeth?

Coal has a loose structure and binds other organic compounds, which is why it is so often recommended for poisoning. The same mechanism will help us eliminate discoloration of coffee, tea or coffee, which often appear on the surface of the teeth. Unfortunately, we cannot remove tartar with this method – coal does not bind any minerals. Charcoal is effective, but it certainly did not whiten our teeth by a few tones like a dentist procedure, but it works like most of the expensive whitening toothpastes and products available in stores. However, it is much cheaper and thanks to its gentleness it will not damage our enamel and it can be used even by people with tooth sensitivity.
The toothpaste used regularly will help us maintain the natural whiteness of a smile forever, without risk and without unnecessary costs.

The oils I chose for the recipe also have beneficial properties that care for the teeth. Sesame oil strengthens the gums, prevents tooth decay and periodontitis. It improves the resistance to bacteria in the mouth. Coconut oil has antibacterial properties and is effective in combating and preventing cavities and cavities.

  1. Preparation of the container.Clean the small and tightly closed container and disinfect it well.
  2. Time for tablets.Crush the charcoal tablets with a teaspoon, you can also grind them in a coffee grinder or grind them in a blender. Sometimes you can find crushed coal capsules on sale, which are more expensive but more convenient to use.
  3. Mixing. We mix the ingredients in the proportion of approx. 3 carbon capsules per tablespoon of oil. The paste should be quite thick and greasy. We add 2 drops of the selected essential oil to the entire final product. Put it into the container and it’s ready!

Homemade whitening toothpaste without fluoride – how to use?

The finished paste should be in the form of a thick, greasy paste, but easy to scoop on a brush.

Put the DIY toothpaste on the brush and gently brush your teeth for a few minutes in a circular motion. We rinse our mouth and brush our teeth with ordinary toothpaste.

The best essential oils for the paste will be those with antibacterial properties: tea tree, clove, mint, lemon, eucalyptus, cinnamon or chamomile. In addition to giving the paste taste and smell, they destroy bacteria and fungi, and also accelerate wound healing and relieve inflammation.
If you do not have the oils you need, you can use only coal to whiten your teeth , then we sprinkle the brush with ground particles of coal and gently brush your teeth. We rinse again and finally brush our teeth with a regular toothpaste. It is also effective, but much more unpleasant, and I would be afraid of more abrasion of the enamel, but you can try it when needed.

We keep the homemade toothpaste in the refrigerator , in a closed container, for about a week.

Will you try to make such a paste? Or maybe you know a better recipe?
