Alterra, Hair shampoo with active carbon

Hi guys! I will whip Alterra shampoos, even though their compositions do not suit me completely. Many canned products are irritating alcohol (after all, it is the cheapest vegan preservative available on the market) and shampoos, despite the lack of SLS and SLES, still contain strong detergents.

Nevertheless, they are still great cosmetics, and because my skin does not seem to disturb me, I test and buy all new products on Rosman’s shelves. Recently, this novelty has caught my attention – shampoo with active carbon for oily hair. I bought it mainly for my sister who has a huge problem with regulating the scalp in winter, but I will also use it – as a stronger shampoo – a scrubber to cleanse my hair at least once a week.

Composition analysis:

It is the same in this case: as you can see, at the beginning of the composition we have stronger detergents, but slightly softened by betaine (“Tests have shown that a small 3.5% addition of betaine to the formulation effectively reduces the irritating effect of detergents” – Beutyever). S.The sampon could be a bit milder, and there might be no alcohol, which irritates the scalp and dries out the hair, which is not the best solution for oily hair. We do not have too much carbon here -Charcoal Powder- is already smelled, but still more than in popular shampoos of this type, e.g. in Soda soap, carbon is at the bottom end. The addition of zinc and herbal extracts, which we also do not have too much, means that you should not be afraid of this shampoo as too much cleansing. It does not differ too much from the rest of the owl family shampoos, the compositions are similar, the individual extracts change. I bottle design 🙂

The fact that the manufacturer called this shampoo from Alterra “for oily hair” does not mean that people with a different type of scalp should avoid it. I use it as a stronger stripper once a week, but if someone uses a strong, drugstore SLS shampoo on a daily basis, this shampoo will be gentle for him and can easily be used every day as a healthier alternative to hair.

Alterra, Shampoo with charcoal

My opinion:

Alterra shampoo in a modest, typical for the series packaging. It is indeed black and gray in color, but fortunately it will not soil the bathtub or leave a residue. The smell is pleasant – fresh, refreshing and herbal, it does not stay long on the hair. Pines better than I remember in other shampoos in this series. It is easy to rinse, after washing the hair is nicely cleansed and bounced off the roots. I have the impression that the hair and scalp stay fresh longer, the head does not itch, even when the hair is held in place.
I am afraid that such a strong cleansing may harm my sister when washing her hair every day, but for now they have normalized, they are not clumping into greasy pods as they used to be. We will continue to test.

Summary:

Is it worth buying this product?

No: if you’re looking for a mild shampoo for your daily cleansing.

Yes: it’s worth testing. The Alterra shampoo costs little, the efficiency is average, and the bottle’s capacity is small, despite this disadvantage, I will definitely come back to it, because it cleans well and gives my long, heavy hair a very effective volume.
